Women's Tennis Defeats Alabama A&M

Strong Performance To Conclude Non-Conference Play

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University women's tennis wrapped up non-conference play with a convincing 6-1 victory over Alabama A&M Saturday from the Beaman Family Tennis Complex.

The Bruins had strong performances throughout the lineup, and claimed the doubles' points in relatively short order.

Viktoria Kliimand and Vesa Gjinaj won at first doubles, 6-2, while the pairing of Aly Getty and Hana Sokolovic won at second doubles, 6-3.

Belmont also showcased its depth in singles, as some lineup changes did not impact results with four of five Bruins winning in straight sets.

Gjinaj defeated Ntokozo Zungu, 6-1, 6-3, and No. 1 singles, with Anastasiya Zholdakova taking care of Alicia Owegi, 6-1, 6-2, on line two.

Getty and Libbie Hamilton also won in command performances before Kliimand rallied to win at third singles to round out the day.

Belmont (7-6) returns to match competition Saturday, March 23 vs. Illinois State.
