Men's Tennis Earns a 4-3 Comeback Win at North Florida

Senior Alfred Wallin clinches the team win at number one singles.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Belmont men's tennis team earned their second straight win as they edged North Florida 4-3 in a match played Wednesday in Jacksonville. 

The Ospreys won the first point of the match as they captured wins at number one and three doubles. 

In singles, they posted wins at positions five and six to take a 3-1 lead, but the Bruins stormed back.  First, Ian Cruz won at number three in straight sets over PJ Kotan 6-3, 6-1. 

Then, Niklas von Hellens outlasted Juan Pablo Cenoz in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 to close the gap to 3-2. 

Later at two, Tomas Luis tied the match at 3-3 for the Bruins as he beat Rodrigo Crespo 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. 

Then, senior Alfred Wallin clinched the match win for Belmont as he defeated Jonas Hartenstein in three sets: 7-5, 6-7, 7-6. 

The men's tennis team is back in action tomorrow as they play #69 Stetson at 12:00 noon in DeLand, Florida.
