NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Softball Program (25-11, 11-4 MVC) fell to Missouri State (10-26, 6-10 MVC) 1-6 in game two of the weekend series.

How it Happened
Missouri State recorded a hit, but
Kaley Varner stepped up with two big defensive plays to prevent a Bears run. Belmont then took the batter's box but was unable to bring in a run.

Belmont got on the board first with an RBI single from
Abi Ledbetter. The Bruins took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.

Despite the early action from the Bruins, the Bears took the lead in the top of the third off a three-run home run. Belmont was unable to record a run in the bottom of the third. The Bruins remained down 1-3 heading into the fourth.

Missouri State added another run in the fourth to extend their lead to 1-4.

The Bears continued their strong start and recorded two more runs in the top of the fifth.
Grace Gressly stepped up to the plate and added a single through the right side to put runners on first and second for the Bruins. Although Belmont saw some action on the bases, the Bruins couldn't bring anyone home.

Belmont struggled to record another hit or run in the sixth and seventh resulting in a 1-6 loss.
