EVANSVILLE, Ind. - - No. 7 Belmont (25-31) opened their MVC Baseball Championship run against No. 6 Southern Illinois (32-25). The Bruins broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning. The Salukis rattled off 12 unanswered runs to win the game 12-2 in eight innings.

Both teams struggled in the early innings at the plate. Belmont had a chance in the third inning to score with the bases loaded and no outs. SIU's Aidan Foeller worked out of the jam to keep the game scoreless.
Michael Lareau made an amazing catch in center field in the fourth inning.
Belmont hung a two spot on the scoreboard in the fifth inning.
Jack Rando led off the inning with a solo home run to left field.
Brodey Heaton homered two batters later. Belmont led 2-0.
SIU took the lead in the bottom half of the inning. The Salukis scored three runs on three hits.
Hank Liss worked out of a bases-loaded jam. SIU led 3-2 after five innings.
The Salukis scored nine more unanswered runs to win the game 12-2 in eight innings.
