TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - - Belmont (22-24, 9-11 MVC) and #24 Indiana State returned to action Saturday afternoon at Bob Warn Field. The Bruins jumped out to an early 5-1 lead but six home runs by the Sycamores decided the game. Indiana State won 8-5.

Mason Landers scored the first run of the game in his first at-bat. Landers launched a no-doubt solo home run to left field. His 18
th home run of the season gave Belmont an early 1-0 lead.
Indiana State tied the game in the bottom of the second. A bases-loaded ground ball brought in a run but Belmont turned a double play. The Sycamores stranded a runner on base at the end of the inning. The game was tied at 1-1.
Belmont responded with three runs in the third inning. Slaughter singled for the second time in the game. Landers followed with a one-out single.
Brodey Heaton advanced both runners on a ground ball. Following a walk to
Blake Barton,
Landon Godsey drew a bases-loaded walk.
Max Blessinger brought home two more runs on a base knock to right-center field. Belmont led 4-1.
Brodey Heaton led off the fifth inning with a solo home run to left. His 12
th home run of the season extended Belmont's lead to 5-1.
The Sycamores' offense came alive in the sixth inning.
Dominic Baratta surrendered two solo home runs before exiting the game with one out.
Cade Granzow kept the scoring at with an inning-ending strikeout. Belmont held on to a 5-3 lead.
Indiana State hit three home runs in the seventh inning to take an 8-5 lead. The Bruins' bats went silent for the rest of the game. Indiana State secured the series with an 8-5 win.
Belmont and Indiana State close out the series tomorrow afternoon at Noon CT.
