Tuti Jones (Troy, Ala.) and graduate student men's basketball player
Carter Whitt (Raleigh, N.C.) have been named Trane Student-Athletes of the Month for January.
Jones continues to be a steady force on the women's basketball team. She ranks in the top-5 in points, three-point percentage, free throw percentage, rebounding, and steals, leading the team in three points shooting and steals. She had a season-high 16 points versus Southern Illinois and currently ranks second all-time in Belmont history in career steals with 288.
Whitt has a been key player in the success of the men's basketball program. He ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game and is second in the MVC in assists at 4.9 per game. He hit the game-winning shot versus Illinois State on December 4 and for his efforts was named MVC Player of the Week. In addition, he scored a season-high 25 points twice in a month span… against UC-Irvine on December 19 and later against Indiana State on January 11.
