NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont women's soccer fought to a 2–2 draw with Indiana State on Saturday afternoon at E.S. Rose Park, capping a back-and-forth Missouri Valley Conference match up that featured all four goals in the second half.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Bruins struck first in the 56th minute when Kennedy Wise buried a close-range finish off a cross from Teagan Downs to give Belmont a 1–0 advantage. The Sycamores responded with two goals midway through the second half, including one from Tori Angelo in the 76th minute to take a 2–1 lead.
Belmont refused to back down. In the 85th minute, senior forward Laken Whittington found the equalizer, leveling the match at 2–2 to secure a valuable point in conference play.
The Bruins finished with eight shots, six of which landed on target. Goalkeeper Sydney Jones recorded four saves while playing all 90 minutes between the posts. Wise netted her second goal of the season and Whittington each netting her third goal of the season, highlighting Belmont's balanced offensive attack.
With the result, Belmont moves to 3-4-7 overall and 1-2-3 in Missouri Valley Conference play, while Indiana State now stands at 6-4-6 (2-1-3 MVC).
