CHICAGO, Ill. – Belmont women's soccer wrapped up its 2 game away stretch on Sunday afternoon, falling 3–0 to UIC at Flames Field in Chicago. Despite outshooting the Flames in several stretches and creating quality chances throughout the match, the Bruins were unable to find the back of the net in their Missouri Valley Conference finale.
UIC opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Riley Collett connected on a cross from Sophia Jaime to give the home side an early 1–0 advantage. Belmont continued to apply pressure in the first half with seven shots, including three on target from Kennedy Wise, but UIC goalkeeper Francesca Faraci came up with key saves to preserve the lead.
The Flames doubled their advantage in the 66th minute as Hannah Gryzik converted a penalty kick to make it 2–0. Collett then struck again in the 79th minute, finishing a rebound inside the box to cap a two-goal performance and secure the win for UIC.
The Bruins finished with 14 total shots, six of which were on goal, led by Wise and Ava Labocki, who each recorded multiple shots on frame. Goalkeeper Sydney Jones tallied five saves in 74 minutes of action before Greta Genie entered to finish the match, adding one more stop.
Belmont created several late opportunities, but UIC's defensive effort held firm. The Flames' goalkeeper tandem of Faraci and Sara Sanabria combined for six saves, including three critical stops in the closing minutes to deny Kaitlyn Elliott and Kennedy Wise from close range.
