Bruins Shut Out ACC’s Louisville Tuesday Evening on the Road

Men’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten in 2025 with Scoreless Draw

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In its final non-conference match of the regular season, the Belmont University men's soccer team earned a scoreless road draw at the Atlantic Coast Conference's University of Louisville Tuesday evening at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium in Kentucky. Securing their seventh road result of the year, the Bruins (6-0-5) extended the nation's third-longest unbeaten streak to a program-record 13 matches.

Belmont had plenty of chances to score on the Cardinals (5-4-2), particularly in the first half, and kept Louisville out of goal despite playing a man down for the final 25 minutes of the match.

The shutout is the Bruins' fifth on the road this season.

Belmont didn't concede a shot on target in the first half and allowed only one corner kick. However, the Cardinals were much more aggressive in the second half, tallying nine shots with four on goal and earning six corners.

Three of the Bruins' four shots on the evening were placed on target and Belmont gained three first-half corners. Back-to-back corners in the closing five minutes of the first half looked promising for the Bruins, but Belmont was unable to create a legitimate chance.

Freshman midfielder Nzuhri Biggar had a look at goal in the 54th minute and redshirt junior forward Brock Kiper attempted a bicycle kick goal in the 70th minute. Both redshirt junior defender Nate Mefford and redshirt sophomore forward Lucas Wolthers had great runs in the box in the last 20 minutes.

Graduate defender Parker Forbes, taking on his undergraduate alma mater, nearly looped in a deep cross with a minute left.

Junior defender Griffin Moore was issued a red card in the 65th minute for denying Louisville a goal scoring opportunity. On the Cardinals' free kick following the ejection, graduate goalkeeper Grant Calvert made a diving save toward the right post.

Calvert came up with four second-half saves, including making a stop on a strong Louisville header with just under seven minutes to go, to pick up his fourth clean sheet of the season. Of Note
  • For the first time in school history, the Bruins are unbeaten through their first 11 matches of the season.
  • Belmont's unbeaten streak dates back to Oct. 25 of last year.
  • The result is the Bruins' first against an ACC opponent since an Oct. 27, 2015, win at Virginia Tech.
  • Belmont earns its first result against the Cardinals after dropping its previous eight matchups with Louisville.
  • The Cardinals defeated top-ranked Stanford 1-0 on Sept. 5.
  • Going back to last season, the Bruins have claimed a result in 14 of their last 15 matches.
