NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball head coach
Casey Alexander announced Friday the signings of Jaylen Alexander, Jake Feldhaus, Charlie Gersmehl, and Devin Hutcherson to play basketball for the Bruins, starting in the fall of 2026.

The four players comprise one of the top recruiting classes in program history.

"This 2026 class illustrates all the characteristics we want in a Belmont SA; talented, competitive, accomplished, and a believer in Belmont's culture." Coach Alexander said. "Together these four set Belmont up for highly successful future."
Alexander, a 6-2 guard from Oxford, Alabama, averaged 18.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.6 assists, and 2.9 steals per game as a junior in leading Oxford High School to a 24-7 record.

Currently ranked as the No. 1 point guard in the state of Alabama by multiple recruiting services, Alexander is a two-time Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State selection and a
Birmingham News/AL.com Player of the Year candidate. Moreover, Alexander is on the Alabama Mr. Basketball watch list – an award earned by Belmont hall of famer and assistant coach
Kerron Johnson.

Alexander, who played AAU basketball for EYBL Team Thad, is the Oxford High School career leader in points and assists and was named Calhoun County Tournament Most Valuable Player.

"Jaylen is a dynamic point guard with the size and skill to make an impact on both ends," Alexander said. "He's a playmaker and a leader, two valuable characteristics of a lead guard."
Feldhaus, a 6-7 forward from Richmond, Kentucky averaged 22.0 points and 11.1 rebounds per game on 55 percent shooting as a junior in leading Madison Central High School the 2025 Kentucky District championship.

A consensus Top 5 player in the state of Kentucky by multiple recruiting services, Feldhaus was named
Lexington Herald Leader All-State and Junior Kentucky All-Star. He averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game as a sophomore at Mason County High School.

Feldhaus, who played AAU basketball for Indiana Elite and is an all-state golfer, comes from decorated athletic family at the University of Kentucky; his grandfather Allen Sr. played for Adolph Rupp while his father Deron scored over 1,000 career points playing for hall of fame coaches Eddie Sutton and Rick Pitino.

"Jake is an athletic, tough, competitive winner and his best basketball days are ahead of him," Alexander said. "His versatility will serve him well in the Missouri Valley Conference."
Gersmehl, a 6-8 forward from Cumming, Georgia, averaged 12.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.8 blocked shots per game as a junior in leading Gainesville High School to a 2025 Georgia Region 7-5A championship.

Prep Hoops, Ryze Hoops, and
Southern Hoops Report, Gersmehl was named to 2025-26 Preseason All-State and All-North Georgia by Kyle Sandy.

Gersmehl, who played AAU basketball for Atlanta Xpress, was a 2025 Georgia All-Region 7 selection and Georgia Basketball Coaches Association All-State candidate.

"Charlie is a well-rounded skilled big who can play all over the floor," Alexander said. "He's a worker and operates with a high level of competitiveness."
Hutcherson, a 6-4 guard from Johns Creek, Georgia, averaged 15.0 points, and 5.0 rebounds per game on 59 percent shooting as a junior in leading Holy Innocents' Episcopal School to the 2025 Georgia State Championship for 3A-A private schools.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution Georgia All-State, 2025 Georgia 3A-A Region Defensive Player of the Year, and was selected as a 2025-26
Player to Watch.

Hutcherson, who played AAU basketball for Game Elite, was part of the 2025 AAU adidas 3ssb championship team. He will play in the prestigious Atlanta Tip-off Club Hawks-Naismith Classic Nov. 22. Hutcherson hails from the same area as former Belmont standout and Indiana Pacers guard Ben Sheppard.

"Devin brings a level of athleticism and explosiveness that will be impactful," Alexander said. "Physically and athletically, he's ready made for conference play."

Belmont University men's basketball has been a postseason fixture for the last two decades, including nine berths to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won 20 conference championships since 2006 - third-most nationally over that span (behind Gonzaga and Kansas). Belmont has won 20 or more games in 15 consecutive seasons (alongside Gonzaga, Kansas, and Oregon) and 19 or more games in 20 consecutive seasons (alongside Gonzaga, Kansas, and San Diego State). Belmont is among select programs with two or more first-round selections in the NBA Draft over the last six years (Ben Sheppard, Dylan Windler). Belmont University men's basketball boasts an NCAA-leading 19 Academic All-America selections since 2001 and is the only NCAA Division I program to make the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) Honor Roll every year of its existence. Belmont is the only NCAA Division I institution in America whose men's and women's basketball programs have won 20 or more games in 10 consecutive seasons.
