Men's Basketball Defeats Fisk

Rogers & Orme Lead the Way

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Behind strong defense and six double figure scorers, Belmont University men's basketball defeated Fisk, 96-49, Friday night from the Curb Event Center.
 
Brigham Rogers had a career-high 17 points and 13 rebounds while Sam Orme added 18 points and 10 rebounds as the duo became the first Belmont teammates to record double-doubles in the same game since Carter Whitt and Jonathan Pierre vs. Illinois State last season.
 
Belmont limited Fisk to one made field goal the first seven minutes as an Orme 3-pointer gave the Bruins a 17-2 lead.
 
Nic McClain continued his impactful all-around play, as his scoring and assists lifted Belmont to a 46-25 halftime lead.
 
Consecutive steals and scores from Cooper Haynes increased the lead to 30, 58-28, with 15:01 remaining.
 
As Rogers and Orme controlled the paint, Belmont got outstanding bench contributions from Isaiah West and Win Miller to extended the margin.
 
Miller's fourth 3-pointer made the score 89-40 with 4:31 left.
 
Belmont limited Fisk to 27 percent shooting and outscored the Bulldogs by 30 points in the paint.
 
Belmont handed out 22 assists while committing a season-low seven turnovers.
 
10 Bruins scored.
 
Aside from the major contributions from Rogers and Orme, Bez Jenkins had 14 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
 
Miller had 12 points, while McClain had 11 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. McClain also went over 1,000 career points during the game.
 
Tyler Lundblade provided 10 points and five rebounds.
 
Trenton Connolly led Fisk (2-8) with 11 points.
 
With the victory, Belmont opens the season 5-0 for the first time since its NCAA Tournament at-large bid season of 2019.
 
Belmont (5-0) returns to game action Monday, Nov. 24 vs. Saint Francis in GEICO Coconut Hoops. Tip-off is set for 12:30 p.m. CT from Alico Arena in Ft. Myers, Florida.
