NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Belmont Women's Soccer Junior Goalkeeper Greta Genie has been called up to the Nicaragua Senior National Team for the upcoming Concacaf W Qualifiers, marking a major milestone in her international career and a proud moment for the Bruins program.
Greta will join her national team for the first week of qualifiers, beginning November 27 at 2 p.m. CT against Antigua & Barbuda, followed by a second match on December 1 at 6 p.m. CT versus Guyana.
The qualifying campaign will continue in late February, early March, and conclude in April 2026. At the end of the qualifying rounds, the top six teams will advance to the Concacaf Women's Championship, joining the United States and Canada. That tournament will serve as the official qualifying path for both the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil and the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
"We are extremely proud of Greta for getting the call up! It's a testament to who she is. She's put in the work everyday with the desire to be the best that she can be. It is a huge honor to represent your country on the biggest stage and one that I know Greta doesn't take lightly. We are thrilled to see her play on the international stage and help bring Nicaragua one step closer to playing in the next World Cup!," said Belmont Assistant coach Lindsey LaRoche.Â
Belmont Women's Soccer congratulates Greta on this prestigious achievement and looks forward to supporting her throughout the qualification cycle.
