Tyler Lundblade was named to the Lou Henson Player of the Year Early Season Watch List, CollegeInsider.com announced Thursday.

Lundblade, named Preseason Mid-Major All-America by Field of 68 and Preseason All-MVC by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook and the league office, led the nation in 3-point field goal percentage last season (.481).

The 6-5 guard set a new Belmont single-season record for made 3-point field goals (104) – which ranks ninth all-time in MVC history.

Lundblade is averaging 16.3 points per game as the Bruins are off to their best start of the NCAA Division I era.

The Dallas, Texas native has 32 double figure scoring games, including a career-high 27 points vs. Missouri State.

He was named MVC Player of the Week Dec. 1 and was named Coconut Hoops Tournament Most Valuable Player.

Lundblade ranks third nationally in 3-point field goals made and ninth nationally in 3-point field goals per game. He leads in the MVC in five statistical categories.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the most outstanding mid-major player in Division I college basketball.

The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com.
The 2026 award will be announced in Indianapolis, Indiana, site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship.

Belmont University men's basketball has been a postseason fixture for the last two decades, including nine berths to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won 20 conference championships since 2006 - third-most nationally over that span (behind Gonzaga and Kansas). Belmont has won 20 or more games in 15 consecutive seasons (alongside Gonzaga, Kansas, and Oregon) and 19 or more games in 20 consecutive seasons (alongside Gonzaga, Kansas, and San Diego State). Belmont is among select programs with two or more first-round selections in the NBA Draft over the last six years (Ben Sheppard, Dylan Windler). Belmont University men's basketball boasts an NCAA-leading 19 Academic All-America selections since 2001 and is the only NCAA Division I program to make the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) Honor Roll every year of its existence.
