CHICAGO – Following a 13-day break from match action, the Belmont University men's tennis team returned Friday afternoon in Chicago and notched a convincing 6-1 win over Northern Illinois as part of DePaul's George Lott Classic at XS Tennis Village. Improving to 4-5 on the season, the Bruins took the top two doubles matches before earning wins on five of the six singles courts.

Esunge Ndumbe and freshman
Charlie Robin wasted no time in defeating the Huskies' Saul Berdullas and Sam Klein 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, while junior
Sabi Roi and sophomore
Stefan Vedovelli topped Northern Illinois' Iker Gaztambide Arrastia and Federico Scotuzzi 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

In singles action, Ndumbe Roi, Vedovelli and graduate
Niklas von Hellens all won their matches in straight sets. At the top of the lineup, Ndumbe bested the Huskies' Gaztambide Arrastia 6-3, 6-4 as Roi handled Northern Illinois' Berdullas 6-2, 7-6 (2) on court two. Vedovelli took out the Huskies' Scotuzzi 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 4 position and von Hellens won consecutive 7-5 sets against Northern Illinois' Iker Dellien Velasco at the No. 6 spot.

Robin was taken to a third set at No. 3 singles but came away victorious against the Huskies' Chiao Bo Suo Nan, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

Belmont takes on 61st-ranked and host DePaul Saturday morning in the Windy City. First serve from XS Tennis Village is slated for 9:30 a.m. The Bruins continue their lengthy eight-match road stretch next weekend at East Tennessee State Saturday, March 1 and Eastern Kentucky Sunday, March 2.
