Men's Tennis Takes Two Points Off Ole Miss

Bruins Earn Wins at the Top of the Singles Lineup

OXFORD, Miss. – Taking on the Southeastern Conference's Ole Miss Saturday on the road, the Belmont University men's tennis team earned two impressive singles victories at the top of its lineup. Juniors Esunge Ndumbe and Sabi Roi were both victorious at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, as the Bruins (3-5) dropped a 5-2 decision inside the William F. Galtney Indoor Tennis Center in Oxford, Mississippi.

The undefeated Rebeles (6-0) clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court two after the tandem of senior Diego Castro and junior Eli Mizerski picked up a 6-2 victory at No. 3 doubles against Ole Miss' Marcel Kamrowski and Dakotah Bobo.

Belmont's first point of the day came at No. 2 singles where Roi defeated the Rebels' Kamrowski in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Ndumbe then wrapped up the match with a three-set triumph at the top singles spot. Facing Ole Miss' nationally-ranked Noah Schlagenhauf, Ndumbe overcame a 6-4 opening set loss with 6-3, 6-4 set wins. Schlagenhauf entered the match as the 101st-ranked player in the country.

The Bruins also had opportunities on courts three and five but were unable to pull through in first-set tiebreakers. Sophomore Stefan Vedovelli was edged 7-4 in a first-set tiebreaker with the Rebels' Matthieu Chambonniere at No. 5 singles, while freshman Charlie Robin came up short 7-1 in an opening set tiebreak against Ole Miss' Isac Strömberg at No. 3 singles.
