NASHVILLE, Tenn. – On Senior Day, the Belmont men's tennis team swept Eastern Illinois 7-0 in a Horizon League match played indoors Saturday afternoon at the Hadley Park Tennis Center in Nashville.
Belmont took the early 1-0 lead as they posted wins at two of three doubles positions. At one,
Sabi Roi and
Stefan Vedovelli beat Ludolph Wiggett and Alex Aldaz 6-2. Then at three,
Eli Mizerski and
Diego Castro defeated Pieke Bouman and Duarte Trocado 6-2. The match at number two was unfinished since the doubles point had been determined.
In singles, the Bruins swept all six matches to clinch the 7-0 win over the visiting Panthers.
At one,
Charlie Robin beat Bouman in three sets: 4-6, 7-6, 6-2. Then at two,
Esunge Ndumbe outlasted Aldaz in three sets: 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.Â
Roi won at three over Zach White 6-2, 7-6, while at four Castro defeated Tyler Carlin 6-4, 6-4.
Morgan Woodson was victorious at five over Wiggett in three sets, 3-6, 6-0, 10-4, while Mizerski won at six over Duarte Trocado, 6-1, 6-1.Â
The men's tennis team (8-10, 2-0) is back in action tomorrow as they play a non-conference match at Memphis starting at 4:00pm.Â
