NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Softball Program (33-12, 16-5 MVC) claimed a 7-1 win over Lipscomb (20-27, 7-11 ASUN) Tuesday afternoon in the Battle of the Boulevard.

How it Happened
Lipscomb threatened early with two runners in scoring position.
Rayna Cruickshanks got the start in the circle for Belmont and recorded her first strikeout of the day to keep the Bison scoreless in the first. The Bruins got on the board early off an RBI from
Grace Gressly in the bottom of the inning. Belmont headed into the second up 1-0.

Both teams faced scoreless second and third innings.
Â
The Bruin offense started gaining momentum in the bottom of the fourth.
Madison Dolecki drove in an RBI single followed by an RBI sacrifice fly from
Brenna Blume to extend the lead to 3-0 heading into the fifth.Â

Mackenzie Willis took over in the circle to start the fifth inning where she would catch two batters swinging. Belmont continued to lead by three after five innings of play.

Belmont broke the game wide open in the sixth.
Emily Cockrill led off the inning with a double to left. With her second RBI of the day, Dolecki brought in another run for the Bruins. After a single from Blume and four-straight walks, the Bruins took a commanding 7-0 lead heading into the final inning.Â

The Bison added a run in the seventh but were unable to complete the comeback resulting in a 7-1 victory for the Bruins.
