Baseball Walks Off Murray State on Senior Day

Blake Barton Delivers Game-Winning Hit in Tenth Inning

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – There was a lot to celebrate Sunday afternoon at E.S. Rose Park. Belmont (24-28, 13-11 MVC) hosted Murray State (34-13, 16-8 MVC) in the final home game of the season. The Bruins celebrated eight members of the team before the game in a Senior Day ceremony and recognized all moms in attendance for Mother's Day. In storybook ending fashion, Belmont senior Blake Barton hit the game-winning RBI single in the tenth inning, lifting the Bruins to a 4-3 victory over the Racers.
 
Scoring Action
  • Belmont got on the board in the first inning. Ty Allen hit an RBI up the middle that scored Charlie Davis. Mike Sprockett brought home Allen on a sacrifice fly to right field. The Bruins led 2-0 after the first inning.
  • Charlie Jury put Murray State in business with a double to right-center field, scoring two runs.
  • Jonathon Hogart gave the Racers a 3-2 lead, on a base hit to right field.
  • Belmont tied the game on Landon Godsey's eighth home run of the season in the sixth inning.
  • In the bottom of the tenth, Blake Barton hit the game-winning RBI single to right-center. Belmont won their final home game of the season at E.S. Rose Park, 4-3.
Bruin Bullets
  • Ethan Harden earned the win, improving to 2-2 on the season. Harden shut down the Racers at the plate. In three innings,
  • Andrew Perry was nearly untouchable out of the bullpen for the Bruins. Perry logged a career-high 5 innings pitcher, with a 5-3 record and two hits.
  • Charlie Davis tied a career-high four hits and scored two runs.
  • Landon Godsey with 3-for-4 with a home run, his eighth longball of the season.
