Lundblade, Walker Named to DI-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete Team

Latest Academic Honor for Bruins

CLEVELAND - - Belmont University men's basketball student-athletes Tyler Lundblade and Isaiah Walker have been named to the 2024-25 DI-AAA Athletics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) Scholar-Athlete Team, the organization announced Wednesday.
 
This marks the 18th and 19th time a Belmont men's basketball player has been named to the DI-AAA ADA Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team in the academic program's 23-year history.
 
Lundblade was one of the great stories in college basketball this past season. After playing a total of 52 minutes over three seasons at SMU and TCU, Lundblade burst on the scene at Belmont and developed into one of the nation's top newcomers.
 
The 6-5 guard led the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (.481) and set the Belmont NCAA Division I era single-season record for made 3-point field goals (104). His 104 3-pointers rank ninth in Missouri Valley Conference history.
 
Lundblade posted 20 double figure scoring games and earned national player of the week honors in February as during a four-game stretch he went a remarkable 30-for-46 from 3-point range.
 
He scored a career-high 27 points vs. Missouri State Feb. 8.
 
The Dallas, Texas native holds a 4.0 grade-point average in marketing and completed his undergraduate studies this spring.
 
Lundblade was named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® in March.
 
Walker, the 2023-24 DI-AAA ADA Scholar Athlete of the Year, posted 22 double figure scoring games in averaging 10.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game this season.
 
The 6-5 guard was named to the 2024-25 MVC Most Improved Team.
 
The Wyoming, Ohio native recorded 97 career game appearances, ranking among team leaders in rebounds, assists and steals in helping the Bruins extend their streak of 15 consecutive 20-win seasons.
 
A three-time CSC Academic All-District® honoree, Walker has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team each of the past three seasons.
 
Walker graduates with a 3.79 grade-point average in business administration.
 
He was a member of the Belmont Office of Leadership Development (BOLD) team and the men's basketball representative on the campus and Missouri Valley Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
 
Joining Lundblade and Walker on the 2024-25 DI-AAA ADA Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team are Ryan Kalkbrenner and Steven Ashworth of Creighton, Filip Skobalj of UIC, Jacob Ognacevic and Will Pruitt of Lipscomb, Stevie Mitchell of Marquette, Josh Dilling of Northern Kentucky, Leo Colimerio of Queens, Ray'Sean Taylor of SIUE, and Fletcher Abee of UNC Asheville.
 
Belmont University men's basketball has been a postseason fixture for the last two decades, including nine berths to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won 20 conference championships since 2006 - third-most nationally over that span (behind Gonzaga and Kansas). Belmont has won 20 or more games in 15 consecutive seasons (alongside Gonzaga, Kansas, and Oregon) and 19 or more games in 20 consecutive seasons (alongside Gonzaga, Kansas, and San Diego State). Belmont is among select programs with two or more first-round selections in the NBA Draft over the last five years (Ben Sheppard, Dylan Windler). Belmont University men's basketball boasts an NCAA-leading 19 Academic All-America selections since 2001 and is the only NCAA Division I program to make the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) Honor Roll every year of its existence. Belmont is the only NCAA Division I institution in America whose men's and women's basketball programs have won 20 or more games in 10 consecutive seasons.
