NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball head coach
Casey Alexander announced Friday the hire of JJ Butler to the position of assistant coach on the Bruin staff.

Butler spent the last two-plus seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Delaware.
Â
Delaware won four consecutive games during championship week to reach the 2025 CAA championship game.
Â
"JJ Butler is a great addition to our staff," Alexander said. "As a player, I admired JJ's energy, ability to communicate, and leadership. It has been great to follow his coaching career and we fully expect him to make our staff better."

Prior to Delaware, Butler served as head coach at Chesnut Hill (Pa.) College and assistant coach at Susquehanna University.

Butler played for Alexander at Lipscomb University, earning his bachelor's degree in corporate management finance in 2016. He earned his master's degree in human services administration from Chesnut Hill in 2018.

Butler is a native of Abingdon, Maryland.

He succeeds Sean Rutigliano, who was named head coach at Colby College July 11.
