Belmont Announces Bruin Sports Network Broadcast Team for 2025-26

Voice of the Bruins Steve Layman Headlines List of Nashville Sports Media Mainstays

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University Athletics announced Monday its Bruin Sports Network broadcast team for the 2025-26 academic year.
 
Steve Layman returns for his fifth season as lead broadcaster for Belmont men's basketball. An award-winning broadcaster, Layman is a Nashville sports fixture in his role as sports anchor at NewsChannel 5 (WTVF-TV), the CBS affiliate in Nashville. Beyond calling Belmont games and serving as emcee at various campus events, Layman begins year four of his podcast series - In Layman's Terms - available on Apple, Spotify and all leading podcast platforms. Layman came to Nashville after spending five years as sports director at KOKI-TV in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Previously, Layman served as a play-by-play announcer for University of Illinois Athletics on the Illini Sports Network and radio co-host of Sports Talk on WDWS-AM in Champaign, Illinois. He covered Illinois men's basketball during its historic 2005 National Runner-Up season. Layman has been honored for best sportscast by the Associated Press and the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters. He also received three OAB Awards for best sports special for his role as host and producer. The Illinois native has been a regular guest host on Nashville sports talk radio.
 
Jill Jelnick joins the Bruin Sports Network in an expanded capacity, serving as an Olympic sport play-by-play commentator, color analyst and sideline reporter for select broadcasts. The award-winning broadcaster and multimedia journalist serves as sports director at WZTV-TV, the FOX affiliate in Nashville. Prior to Fox 17, Jelnick worked as a sports anchor/reporter for television affiliates in San Antonio, Texas, Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Greenville, North Carolina. The Aliso Viejo, California native was a four-year starter in softball at East Carolina University, where she was teammates with Belmont University faculty athletics representative and assistant professor of sport administration Kristi Oshiro. Jelnick, who earned Academic All-America and Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, has extensive live game broadcasting experience for the SEC Network and ESPN+. She hosts the Nashville Game Changers podcast.

Will Boling continues his second stint as sideline reporter and contributor for select home Bruin Sports Network and ESPN digital broadcasts. The Nashville native serves as lead sideline reporter for the Tennessee Titans on Titans Radio and host of Ramon & Will – the morning drive sports talk show on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville. Boling also serves as radio play-by-play broadcaster for Nashville Soccer Club in Major League Soccer, which included the local and satellite radio call of the 2023 Leagues Cup Final between Nashville SC and Inter Miami featuring Lionel Messi. A well-versed broadcaster, Boling has emerged as one of the most respected voices for track and field in the United States, lending his descriptions for major competitions on ESPN, NBC Sports, SEC Network and ESPN digital. A University of Tennessee graduate, Boling calls select Tennessee Volunteers' men's and women's basketball games for ESPN digital. He previously served as sideline reporter during Belmont's tenure in the Ohio Valley Conference.
 
Buck Reising returns for his second season as sideline reporter and contributor for select home Bruin Sports Network and ESPN digital broadcasts. The Indiana native has established himself as an industry-leading, multi-platform sports media personality. With a decade of experience covering the Tennessee Titans, AFC South, and the NFL, Reising hosts the highly-rated sports talk radio program The Buck Reising Show, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville. Barrett Media ranked The Buck Reising Show No. 2 nationally among midday sports talk radio shows. He also co-hosts a popular football segment with NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell. Moreover, Reising hosts weekends nationally on Fox Sports Radio. A graduate of the University of Indiana, Reising provides extensive college basketball coverage on his platforms and has an established rapport with Belmont men's basketball head coach Casey Alexander.
 
Lucas Panzica joins the Bruin Sports Network team in 2025-26 as sideline reporter and contributor for select home Bruin Sports Network and ESPN digital broadcasts. One of the most versatile and gifted young broadcasters in the nation, Panzica serves as executive producer and co-host of The Buck Reising Show, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville. He also serves as radio play-by-play voice of Nashville Soccer Club in Major League Soccer and lead broadcaster of the high school football game of the week on Nashville MyTV30. Additionally, Panzica contributes to the Tennessee Titans as the pregame and postgame studio host for Titans Radio. Raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Panzica graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in journalism.

Dr. Rich Tiner returns as the lead voice of Belmont women's basketball and baseball. Tiner retired as a distinguished professor of media studies and faculty athletics representative in May 2021. In his nearly three decades at the mic of Belmont Athletics, Tiner has called 19 Belmont NCAA Tournament games across women's basketball, baseball and volleyball, including the Bruins' victories over Gonzaga and Oregon. The Texas native also served on the NCAA Division I Council. Considered one of the "pioneers" of Contemporary Christian Music radio, Tiner began his career in Houston, Texas at KFMK-FM, one of the very first radio stations to program Contemporary Christian Music full-time. After several years as an air personality, his career path led him into programming, sales, and management--and ultimately into station ownership.

Jenny Roy Bream ('19) returns for her seventh season as color analyst for select women's basketball games. One of the most versatile players in Belmont and Ohio Valley Conference history, Roy helped the Bruins to a 108-26 record and four consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament from 2016-19. She was named 2019 OVC Tournament Most Valuable Player and celebrated her 22nd birthday by recording the third triple-double in program history. Roy finished her Belmont career with 1,029 points, 892 rebounds, 489 assists and 128 steals.

Ellie Harmeyer Strutz ('20) returns for her sixth season as color analyst for select women's basketball games. Like Roy, Harmeyer was a member of four consecutive NCAA Tournament teams and emerged as one of the top frontcourt players in the country in 2020. The Wisconsin native led the nation in five statistical categories as a redshirt senior as she was named Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A two-time First Team All-OVC selection, Harmeyer became the third player in Belmont history to register over 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds.

Hannah Harmeyer ('19) returns for her seventh season as color analyst for select women's basketball games. A three-year letterwinner during Belmont's run of NCAA Tournament success, the Wisconsin native played in 57 games and shot 50 percent from 3-point field goal range for her career.
 
Wes Boling ('13) returns as lead broadcaster for Belmont men's soccer following a one-year hiatus. The Brentwood, Tennessee native is no stranger to the Bruin program, having called many magical moments and golden goals in the Missouri Valley Conference, Southern Conference, and Horizon League. Boling served as the radio voice of Nashville Soccer Club in Major League Soccer from 2018 to 2022. A communications and public relations industry veteran, the Brentwood Academy product previously worked as a sports reporter/content editor at WVLT-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee. Boling is a product of the Belmont Jack C. Massey College of Business.
 
Carter Gledhill ('25) returns for his third season at the microphone as lead broadcaster for Belmont volleyball and women's soccer, as well as select baseball broadcasts. The Arlington Heights, Illinois native spent the last two years as an athletic communications graduate assistant at Belmont. His broadcasting, social media prowess, and media relations ability helped Belmont receive top billing from the Missouri Valley Conference office. Gledhill also worked for ESPN 102.5 The Game while completing his master's degree in sport administration from Belmont. A four-year letterwinner in baseball at Concordia University Chicago, Gledhill served as lead broadcaster at his alma mater as well as the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters of the Northwoods League and the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League. He was a two-time Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA) Jim Nantz Award program honoree. Gledhill currently works as a digital media coordinator for the Nashville Predators.
 
Spencer Boehme returns for his second full season with the Bruin Sports Network as lead broadcaster for select soccer and softball broadcasts. Boehme served as play-by-play broadcaster on ESPN+ for Belmont's historic 2025 softball campaign, including calling the Bruins' first-ever victory in the NCAA Tournament. The Franklin, Tennessee native also called men's soccer during the 2024 campaign. Boehme's resume includes work for Tennessee State University, Grand View University, Henderson State University, and the Gulf South Conference.
 
Ellie Ivancich ('18) returns for her eighth season as color analyst for select Belmont volleyball broadcasts. The Naperville, Illinois native ranks third in Belmont history in digs and was a member of the Bruins' 2015 NCAA Tournament team that faced Louisville. A four-time OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient, Ivancich earned her bachelor's degree with honors in finance and corporate communications.
 
Laura Shoopman ('24) returns for her second season as color analyst for select Belmont volleyball broadcasts. The Salem, Wisconsin native recorded 863 kills, 510 digs, and 128 blocks in four seasons as an outside hitter for the Bruins. A member of the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team, Shoopman is no stranger to Belmont Athletics, having served numerous roles within athletic marketing and gameday operations. She earned her bachelor's degree with honors in business administration, with emphasis in marketing and supply chain management.
 
Greg Sage returns for his 21st season as lead color analyst for men's basketball and select women's basketball broadcasts. Sage has been honored for outstanding writing by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association and for professionalism in announcing by the Ohio Valley Conference. Prior to Belmont, Sage worked as a producer at The Golf Channel in Orlando, and a sports anchor/reporter/producer at two affiliates in his hometown of Rochester, New York. Aside from covering NFL games and calling hundreds of college games throughout his career, Sage also served as a fill-in radio talk show host for 'The Takeo Spikes Show' on the Buffalo Bills Radio Network.  He also serves as executive producer of the In Layman's Terms podcast and adjunct instructor of media studies within the Belmont Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business (CEMB). Sage earned his master's degree in broadcast journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University and his bachelor's degree in economics and communications from Wake Forest University.
