NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University women's volleyball team dropped its 2025 season opener to Vanderbilt, 1-3, in a spirited outdoor match Friday evening on Wyatt Lawn.
The Bruins showed resilience throughout the four-set contest (17-25, 15-25, 25-18, 21-25), highlighted by a dominant third set win.
Belmont controlled Set 3 from the start, earning a 25-18 victory behind 11 kills, four aces, and three blocks.

Brooke Gilleland (Sr, OH) led the Bruins with 15 kills, alongside nine digs.

Lilly Lutz (Sr, L.) held down the defense with a team-high 13 digs.

Bella Mathis (Sr, MB) posted a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage.

Freshmen debuts: Jordan Czajkowski and Erin McMullen each saw their first collegiate minutes.
