NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University volleyball program wrapped up its home-opening weekend this Sunday afternoon, sweeping UT Martin 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-18) inside the Curb Event Center. The win marked the Bruins' second straight victory after topping Seton Hall the previous night.
Belmont set the tone early in the first set, holding a steady lead that grew as large as eight points. An ace from Brooke Gilleland and a kill from Brenna Kauffeld pushed the Bruins ahead 21-13 before they closed the set, 25-16.
Set two began as a back-and-forth battle, but Gilleland's kill forced a UT Martin timeout and helped Belmont pull ahead by three. From there, the Bruins built separation behind strong serving and steady defense to secure the 25-17 win.Â
In the third, Belmont's serve pressure proved decisive. The Bruins tallied three aces in the set, forcing the Skyhawks into multiple timeouts as the lead stretched. Kauffeld sealed the match with a kill to finish the sweep, 25-18.
With the victory, Belmont closed its first home weekend of the 2025 season with a perfect 2-0 record.
