NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Beginning a three-match road stretch, the Belmont University men's soccer team heads to Evansville, Indiana, to take on Southern Indiana in midweek action Wednesday evening. Kickoff from USI's Strassweg Field is slated for 6 p.m.

What's Bruin
  • The Bruins (3-0-3) have secured 1-1 draws in each of their last three outings after their first-ever 3-0 start.
  • Belmont is unbeaten through its first six matches for only the second time in program history. The Bruins started 5-0-1 during the unique 2020 season, which was played in the spring of 2021 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
  • With its 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon versus Presbyterian College at E.S. Rose Park, Belmont extended its unbeaten streak, which dates back to Oct. 25 of last year, to a program-record eight matches.
  • Through their first six matches of the season, the Bruins have outscored their opponents 8-4.
  • Belmont is 2-0-1 on the road this year, earning consecutive shutouts at Memphis (2-0) and Harvard (1-0) in its first two road matches. The Bruins picked up a 1-1 draw at Northern Kentucky in their last road outing.
  • Belmont led the Blue Hose of Presbyterian Sunday until the final horn as the visitors scored at the final second, stealing two points away from the Bruins. Redshirt sophomore forward Lucas Wolthers scored his first career goal less than a minute into the second half to give Belmont a 1-0 lead that looked to be safe up until time expired.
  • Graduate goalkeeper Grant Calvert tallied another five saves against the Blue Hose, including making two incredible stops in the 65th and 88th minutes. Over the last three matches, he has recorded 16 saves and claimed at least five saves in each contest.
  • Senior midfielder Oscar Hough assisted on Wolthers' goal versus Presbyterian for his second helper of the season.
  • Redshirt junior forward Brock Kiper leads the Bruins in both career goals (11) and points (24).
  • Six different Belmont players have found the back of the net this season – Kiper (3), senior defender Riley Clothier (1), graduate defender Parker Forbes (1), sophomore midfielder Louis Peña (1), freshman forward Jaxon Stokes (1) and Wolthers (1).
  • Going back to last season, Belmont has obtained a result in nine of its last 10 matches.
Versus Southern Indiana
  • Wednesday will be the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs with the Bruins winning all three of the previous matchups.
  • It marks the fourth-straight season Belmont has taken on the Screaming Eagles.
  • The Bruins have outscored Southern Indiana 9-0 in the first three meetings, including a 3-0 win in the Music City in last season's home opener.
  • In its last trip to Strassweg Field on Sept. 12, 2023, Belmont routed the Eagles 4-0. All four goals were scored in the first 33 minutes of the match.
  • Kiper has scored in both of the last two matchups with Southern Indiana.
  • Redshirt senior defender Dylan Steely and junior defender AJ Elliott also found the back of the net in the Bruins' last visit to Southern Indiana two seasons ago.
About the Screaming Eagles
  • The Eagles (1-4-0) defeated NCAA Division III Rose-Hulman 1-0 in their home opener on Aug. 26 but have dropped their last three matches.
  • Southern Indiana began the season with a 6-0 loss at now 12th-ranked Louisville and is coming off a 3-0 defeat at the hands of fellow Missouri Valley Conference member Evansville this past Saturday night.
  • The Eagles were picked eighth out of eight teams in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll after finishing seventh in the conference last season with a 1-7-2 league record.
  • Southern Indiana went 2-14-2 overall last year.
  • Sophomore forward David Davila was named to the OVC Players to Watch list after earning OVC All-Newcomer Team honors last season.
