Bruins Earn 1-1 Draw with Bellarmine Tuesday Night at Rose Park

Belmont Extends Unbeaten Streak to Six Matches

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Remaining unbeaten on the young season, the Belmont University men's soccer team earned a 1-1 draw with visiting Bellarmine University Tuesday night at E.S. Rose Park in Nashville. The Bruins (3-0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the 61st minute on a Riley Clothier header, before the Knights (1-1-2) equalized in the 68th minute.

In a match that saw only seven combined shots on target and seven total corner kicks, Belmont nearly got another game winner from redshirt junior forward Brock Kiper.

Less than a minute after Bellarmine evened the score, Kiper got a boot on a deep feed from sophomore midfielder Louis Peña. However, Kiper's right-footed kick crossed just in front of the far-left post.

After a scoreless first half, senior midfielder Brad Dildy took a free kick from the far-right side and fed a ball perfectly into the box. Making a strong run toward the left side of the goal, Clothier found Dildy's service and headed in his first career goal. A few minutes later, the Knights' Jackson Marks chipped in the tying score from in front of the six-yard line following a pass into the box from Bellarmine defender Sam Safly.

Nine minutes into the second half, graduate goalkeeper Grant Calvert came up with a terrific save to keep the score knotted at zero. On a header by the Knights' Cade Morgan, Calvert fully extended to bat away the ball headed toward the top post. Calvert made a season-high five saves on the night, including three in the first half.

The Bruins didn't earn a corner in the second half and scored on their lone shot on goal.

Bellarmine placed six of its eight total shots on goal. Of Note
