Drew Scharnowski was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Scharnowski nearly averaged a double-double as Belmont earned victories at Northern Iowa and at Drake this past week.

The 6-9 forward averaged 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals per game on 13-for-14 shooting from the field.

The Burlington, Illinois native went 9-for-10 from the field in posting 18 points and nine rebounds at Northern Iowa. He had his third double-double of 10 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals at Drake.

Scharnowski ranks among MVC leaders in field goal percentage, rebounding, and blocked shots.
Belmont recorded a 25-point comeback at Drake, tied for the biggest comeback victory in NCAA Division I this season, and second-largest in MVC history.

Belmont has an NCAA-best nine victories away from home this season.

Belmont University men's basketball has been a postseason fixture for the last two decades, including nine berths to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won 20 conference championships since 2006 - third-most nationally over that span (behind Gonzaga and Kansas). Belmont has won 20 or more games in 15 consecutive seasons (alongside Gonzaga, Kansas, and Oregon) and 19 or more games in 20 consecutive seasons (alongside Gonzaga, Kansas, and San Diego State).
