Men's Basketball Hosts Southern Indiana Monday to Open Regular Season

Head Coach Evan Bradds Blends Roster of Returning Players & Newcomers

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont men's basketball opens regular season play Monday vs. Southern Indiana.

Belmont won the Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship last season, as the Bruins were ranked Top 50 for virtually the entire season.

Following the departure of Casey Alexander to Kansas State, Belmont hired Evan Bradds as the 11th head men's basketball coach in program history.

Bradds, among the greatest players in Belmont University and Ohio Valley Conference history, spent nearly a decade coaching in the NBA for the Boston Celtics and Utah Jazz before being an assistant coach and offensive coordinator for Duke head coach Jon Scheyer in 2025-26.

Belmont returns six players from its conference championship team and welcomes nine newcomers – tied for the most newcomers on a Bruin roster in the program's NCAA Division I era.

In fact, for the first time in program history, Belmont does not have a roster member with more than one year of game experience in a Bruin uniform.

Jack Smiley and Eoin Dillon were named to the MVC Preseason Watch List, while Bez Jenkins was named Preseason All-MVC by Lindy's.

The trio combined to score nearly 800 points and record 36 double figure scoring games last season.

Belmont also returns team captain Isaiah West – one of the top career steals leaders in the MVC – instant offense guard Cooper Haynes and Gonzaga transfer Graydon Lemke.

Southern Indiana enters its fifth season in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Screaming Eagles led the nation in limiting opponent 3-point field goal attempts last season and ranked fifth in limiting opponent assists.

Southern Indiana is led by guard Kaden Brown. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native averaged 11.1 points per game last season.
