INDIANAPOLIS - - Belmont University men's basketball guard
Tyler Lundblade has been selected to the E*TRADE Men's 3-Point contest watch list as part of 37th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Friday, April 3. The event will be broadcast nationally on ESPN on Sunday, April 5.
Â
Lundblade, the reigning NCAA 3-point champion, has established himself as one of the premier 3-point shooters in college basketball. The only player in America to walk-on and earn a scholarship at three different schools (SMU, TCU, Belmont), Lundblade stands with the likes of Honor Huff (West Virginia) and Lamer Wilkerson (Indiana) for the most 3-point field goals made over the last two seasons. Profiled by national media members such as Seth Davis, Andy Katz, Chris Dortch, Kevin Connors, and Annabelle Hasselbeck, Lundblade has made multiple 3-pointers in 48 of his 57 career games at Belmont – including a remarkable four-game stretch of 30-for-46 from long distance. The Dallas, Texas native was named to the Lou Henson Award Watch List and was named Coconut Hoops Tournament Most Valuable Player earlier this season. Last season, Lundblade's 104 3-point field goals established a new Belmont single-season record, ranking ninth all-time in Missouri Valley Conference history. He also ranks among active leaders in career free throw percentage (.937). The 6-5 guard is an Academic All-America candidate.
Â
Program legends Ian Clark and Darby Maggard represented Belmont at past national 3-Point Championships.
Â
The State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships invites a collection of the nation's elite men's and women's college basketball players to compete for slam dunk and 3-point shooting bragging rights. The night features the yearly Slam Dunk Championship, the E*TRADE Men's 3-Point Championship, the Celsius Women's 3-Point Championship and the team shootout. The winners of the Men's and Women's 3-Point Championships will then compete in the Skechers Battle of the Champions.
Â
It will be the seventh time Indianapolis has played host to the event, and the third time the annual competition will take place at Hinkle Fieldhouse, the home of the Butler Bulldogs.
Â
Participants in the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships have included some of basketball's greats and legendary lottery picks, including Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Cappie Pondexter and Odyssey Sims, to unforgettable tournament superstars from recent history like Kris Jenkins, Jack Gohlke, Dyaisha Fair and Ariel Atkins.
