Casey Alexander, one of the most respected and successful head coaches in college basketball, has accepted the head coaching position at Kansas State University, it was announced Friday.

Alexander has posted a record of 166-60 in seven seasons as head coach at Belmont.
Â
He led the Bruin program to four conference championships (three regular season, one tournament) - including the 2026 Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship.

Alexander is one of four coaches nationally – along with Mark Few (Gonzaga), Kelvin Sampson (Houston), and Bill Self (Kansas) – to win 20 or more games 10 consecutive seasons.

Belmont leads the nation in effective field goal percentage and has annually ranked among the nation's top teams in scoring offense and assists per game.

Belmont is ranked No. 44 nationally in the latest KPI rankings, which is listed on the official NCAA Tournament team sheet.

Alexander led Belmont to the 2020 Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which was canceled due to the global pandemic.

Over his 27 years of service to Belmont as a player, assistant coach, and head coach, Alexander has been part of 563 victories, 16 conference championships, and 11 postseason appearances.

The Tennessee native has earned notable victories over Missouri, SMU, TCU, Boston College, and Saint Louis.

Alexander has defeated a laundry list of accomplished national head coaches, including Rick Pitino, Bob McKillop, Tubby Smith, Josh Schertz, Ben Jacobson, Bucky McMillan, Andy Enfield, Darian DeVries, Bryan Hodgson, Bob Richey, Lamont Paris, Russell Turner, Chris Mack, Matt McMahon, Cuonzo Martin, Wes Miller, and Kim English, among others.

He is a two-time conference coach of the year (2019, 2026) and is a four-time finalist for the Skip Prosser Man of the Year Award for coaching success with integrity.

Alexander directed Lipscomb to the 2018 NCAA Tournament and 2019 Postseason NIT Championship game.

Alexander coached current NBA players Ben Sheppard (Indiana Pacers), Garrison Mathews (Indiana Pacers), and Will Richard (Golden State Warriors), 2017 NBA Champion Ian Clark as well as dozens of current and projected professional players.

Belmont has also led the nation in Academic All-America selections and NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) over the last two decades.
