CORALVILLE, Iowa – Running into a surging Evansville squad, the Belmont University women's basketball team was defeated 76-63 Friday evening in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Credit Union 1 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in Coralville, Iowa. Â
Belmont led by as much as seven in the second quarter, but a lengthy 18-5 Evansville run to close the half set up the rest of the evening. After the Bruins led 23-16 with just under six minutes to go in the half, the Purple Aces outscored Belmont 60-40 the rest of the way.

The Bruins were scoreless for nearly the first three minutes of the game before graduate guard

Evansville starting guard Breaunna Ward connected on a three-pointer to ignite an 18-2 run for the Purple Aces. Limiting the Bruins to only one basket in the final five-and-a-half minutes of the half, Evansville took a commanding, nine-point lead at 34-25 on an and-one play by Mireia Mustaros. Junior center
KK Brodie hit a jumper within the first 90 seconds of the second half to keep Belmont within six at 36-30. However, it was as close as the Bruins would be for the remainder of the evening. Belmont simply could not string together stops in the third and fourth quarters.
Â
All-MVC Second Team guard Camryn Runner gave the Purple Aces their first double-digit lead at 40-30 a little less than two minutes into the second half, before fellow Evansville starting guard Elle Snyder pushed the issue to 12.
