MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The 62nd-ranked Tigers of the University of Memphis were too much for the Belmont University men's tennis team Sunday afternoon at the Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis (11-10) swept singles play after winning the doubles point as the Bruins (7-9) won only one set on the afternoon.
Sophomore
Morgan Woodson took the opening set, 6-4, off the Tigers' Sam Reeve at No. 3 singles for Belmont's only set win. However, Woodson was unable to close out Reeve in a second set tiebreaker and fell 10-1 in the deciding super tiebreaker in lieu of the third set.
Memphis' Obrad Markovski and Marko Milosavljevic clinched the doubles point at the third spot with a 6-4 triumph over senior
Eli Mizerski and Woodson. The Tigers were also victorious at the top of the doubles lineup with Mortiz Kudernatsch and Keoni Puig McCallan defeating senior
Sabi Roi and sophomore
Esteban Ortiz 6-2.
Sophomore
Charlie Robin and graduate
Will Ecklund's match at No. 2 doubles went unfinished.
Outside of Woodson, no Bruin won more than six total games in their singles match.
Robin pushed Markovski to a 6-4 second set at second singles, but Memphis won in straight sets at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4-6 positions.
