Softball Secures Series Win Over Northern Iowa

Eichholz’s grand slam powers Bruins to MVC series victory

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Belmont University Softball team (35–11, 21–5 MVC) captured the series win over Northern Iowa with a dominant performance in Saturday's finale, continuing its lead in the Missouri Valley Conference standings.

The Bruins combined timely hitting and dominant pitching, highlighted by a breakout inning at the plate and another strong outing from Maya Johnson in the circle.

Nicole Hughes added another milestone, recording her 200th career hit, while Emily Konz moved into a tie for first in the MVC with 22 stolen bases.

VS Northern Iowa – Game 3 (9–1)

Northern Iowa struck first in the second inning, but Belmont quickly responded and took control of the game.

The Bruins evened the score in the third on a sacrifice fly from Rylee Spindler before erupting in the fourth inning.

Belmont's offense exploded for six runs in the fourth, beginning with an RBI single from Brenna Blume. With the bases loaded, Tallulah Eichholz delivered the biggest swing of the day—a grand slam to left center for her first career home run—giving Belmont a 6–1 lead.

The inning continued as the Bruins capitalized on defensive pressure, adding another run on an error to extend the lead to 7–1.

Belmont tacked on two more runs in the seventh, taking advantage of another defensive miscue to seal the 9–1 victory.

Maya Johnson (24–2) delivered another complete-game performance, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out 14.
