Softball Rallies Late to Defeat Saint Louis in Series Opener

Sixth-inning surge lifts Bruins to victory in final home weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University Softball team (36–11, 21–5 MVC) used a late offensive push to secure a 3–1 victory over Saint Louis in game one of its final home weekend at E.S. Rose Park.

VS Saint Louis - Game 1 (3-1)

After a scoreless battle through five innings, Saint Louis broke through in the top of the sixth to take a 1–0 lead. The Bruins responded immediately in the bottom half with a decisive rally.

Ella Bertucci sparked the inning with a leadoff single, followed by a walk from Emily Konz, who later stole second to move into scoring position. With two outs, Madison Dolecki delivered the clutch hit—a two-RBI double to left field—scoring both Bertucci and Konz to give Belmont a 2–1 lead.

Konz's stolen base was her 24th, leading the MVC.

Lydia Vanderwoude added insurance with an RBI single to center, extending the advantage to 3–1.

Maya Johnson was dominant once again, tossing a complete game while allowing just one run on two hits and striking out 13. The win marked her 25th of the season.
