Baseball Shutout Bradley In Game Two of the Series

Langlotz's Best Outing

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Belmont turned in one of its most complete performances of the 2026 season Saturday afternoon, blanking Bradley 8-0 at E.S. Rose Park to secure its second shutout victory of the year.

The Bruins combined dominant pitching, opportunistic offense, and steady defense to control the game from start to finish, never allowing Bradley to seriously threaten.

After a quiet first inning, Belmont capitalized on early pressure in the second. Mike Sprockett drew a leadoff walk and advanced on a pair of Bradley errors, setting the table for Michael Lareau, who dropped down a perfectly placed RBI bunt single to open the scoring. Moments later, Brody Langlotz brought home another run on a fielder's choice, giving Belmont a 2-0 lead despite recording just one hit in the inning.

The Bruins delivered the decisive blow in the third inning in what proved to be the turning point of the game. Sprockett again reached via walk and advanced into scoring position before Jake Maddox worked a free pass. With traffic on the bases, Nate Webb reached on an error to load the bases, and Lareau showed patience by drawing a walk to force in a run. Langlotz followed with the biggest swing of the day, driving a two-run double into left field to extend the lead to 5-0. Later in the inning, Charlie Davis added a sacrifice fly to center, capping a four-run frame that pushed Belmont's advantage to 6-0 and firmly shifted all momentum to the home side.

Belmont continued to apply pressure in the fifth inning. Maddox opened the frame with a double and later scored on a Lareau fielder's choice. Langlotz delivered again shortly after, ripping his second RBI double of the game down the right field line to make it 8-0. The Bruins would not need any additional offense from there.

While the offense capitalized on opportunities, Belmont's pitching staff was the story of the afternoon. Right-hander Zane Brown turned in a dominant outing, earning the win after tossing seven scoreless innings. Brown allowed just four hits, walked one, and struck out nine, consistently working ahead in counts and shutting down Bradley rallies before they could develop. He showed poise in key moments, including escaping a sixth-inning jam with runners in scoring position by inducing weak contact.

Aubrey Moraitakis took over in the eighth and continued the shutout effort, tossing two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit. The bullpen's ability to maintain Brown's standard ensured Belmont's second shutout of the season was never in doubt.

Defensively, Belmont played clean baseball, committing just one error while turning multiple key outs to halt Bradley momentum. The Bruins also benefited from Bradley's three errors and four wild pitches, taking advantage of nearly every opportunity to extend innings and manufacture runs.

At the plate, Belmont scored eight runs on just five hits but drew seven walks and consistently pressured Bradley's pitching staff. Langlotz led the way with a 2-for-4 performance, collecting two doubles and driving in four runs. Lareau added three RBIs and reached base multiple times, while Maddox scored three runs and Sprockett crossed the plate twice.

Bradley managed five hits on the day but went 0-for with runners in scoring position and stranded seven runners. The Braves struck out nine times and were unable to generate any sustained offensive rhythm against Belmont's pitching.
