NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University women's soccer played well, but came away with a loss against Samford Sunday night on the road.
 
Samford controlled the game early, however great play from goalkeeper Greta Genie kept the game scoreless through most of the first half.
 
In the 38th minute, the Bulldogs took the lead on a well placed shot by freshman midfielder Hayven Laurendine.
 
Belmont's offense came alive in the 55th minute with a flurry of shots from Kaitlyn Elliot and Ava Meadors. However neither shot hit the back of the net.
 
In the 75th minute, the Bulldogs would score again as Marsha Bishop got free on a breakaway.

The Bruins did a good job controlling the point of attack throughout the contest winning several battles in the midfield and showing a lot of promise in their offensive play.
 
Belmont goalkeeper Greta Genie played a phenomenal game with 10 saves including several showstoppers.
 
The Bruins (0-1-1) return to action Thursday at home against Chattanooga. Match time is set for 5 p.m.
