Belmont Volleyball Heads to North Carolina for Three-Match Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont University volleyball team (2-4) heads to North Carolina for a three-match weekend, facing Marshall and Duke on Saturday at Cameron Indoor Stadium before traveling to Raleigh to take on NC State on Sunday. 

The Bruins open the weekend against Marshall at 11 a.m. CT Saturday before facing host Duke at 5 p.m. Belmont closes the weekend Sunday at noon CT against NC State at Reynolds Coliseum. 

The weekend marks the first meeting between Belmont and all three opponents. 

Belmont's matchup against Marshall will stream live on ESPN+, while the contests at Duke and NC State will be available on ACC Network Extra. Live statistics for all three matches will be available at GoBelmontBruins.com. 

What's Bruin 

• Belmont enters the weekend 2-4 following a five-set victory over Middle Tennessee. 
• The win marked the sixth time in as many matches that the Bruins had played to five sets. It is the longest such streak to begin a season for any Division I team since at least 2010. 
• Brenna Kauffeld was named Belmont's September Student-Athlete of the Month.  
• Kauffeld leads the Bruins with 80 kills, followed by Emily Warmenhoven and Erin McMullen with 72 apiece.  
• McMullen leads the Missouri Valley Conference with a .408 hitting percentage.  
• Kauffeld and McMullen were named to Weber State's Wildcat Invitational All-Tournament Team. 
• Alexia Smollen leads Belmont and is tied for the MVC lead with 30 blocks, followed by McMullen with 15.  
• Jordan Czajkowski leads the Bruins with 193 assists and has added 56 digs.  
• The Bruins enter the 2026 season with a challenging schedule that includes eight opponents ranked among the Top 100.  
• Belmont was picked fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Poll, tying with UIC.  
• The Bruins return MVC All-Freshman Team selections Erin McMullen and Jordan Czajkowski, both of whom earned MVC Freshman of the Week honors during the 2025 season.  
• Belmont welcomes three newcomers: junior DS/libero Lauren Evans, a transfer from Butler; sophomore DS/libero Mya Bolton, a transfer from Michigan State; and freshman outside hitter Sydnee Nelson of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  
• Belmont finished the 2025 season 17-11 overall and 8-8 in MVC play, finishing sixth in the conference standings. The Bruins fell to Drake in five sets in the first round of the MVC Tournament.  
• Belmont is led by second-year head coach Fritz Rosenberg, assistant coach Delaney Gallagher and newly hired assistant coach Sean Cahill.  
• The Bruins have made four NCAA Tournament appearances (2006, 2008, 2012 and 2015) and twice pushed nationally ranked Louisville to four sets in the NCAA Tournament (2012, 2015).  
• Belmont's program history includes signature wins over Mississippi State, Marquette, Virginia Tech, UCF, West Virginia, Boston College, Syracuse, DePaul and UConn.  

About the Thundering Herd 

• Marshall enters the weekend 5-1 after sweeping the Hampton Inn Invitational.  
• Sophomore outside hitter Emma Barnett was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team. She leads the Thundering Herd with nine service aces and ranks third on the team with 56 kills.  
• Marshall is led by Heather Stout, who enters her third season with the program.  
• The Thundering Herd finished the 2025 season 15-15 overall and 7-9 in Sun Belt play.  
• This weekend's match will mark the first meeting between Belmont and Marshall.  

About the Blue Devils 

• Duke enters the weekend 5-1, riding a three-match winning streak.  
• Sophomore outside hitter Ashby Zubchevich leads the Blue Devils with 74 kills and 14 service aces.  
• Junior middle blocker Breonna Goss leads Duke with 26 blocks.  
• Duke finished the 2025 season 5-26 overall and 2-18 in ACC play.  
• The Blue Devils are led by first-year head coach Ahen Kim.  
• This weekend's match will mark the first meeting between Belmont and Duke.  

About the Wolfpack 

• NC State enters the weekend 6-1 and rides a four-match winning streak after sweeping the Summit Hospitality Tournament.  
• Outside hitter Britini Silver was named ACC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 7. She currently leads the Wolfpack with 109 kills. She also ranks third on the team with 56 digs and second with seven service aces.  
• NC State is led by Megan Wargo-Kearney, who enters her seventh season with the Wolfpack and second as head coach.  
• The Wolfpack finished the 2025 season 15-15 overall and 8-12 in conference play.  
• This weekend's match will mark the first meeting between Belmont and NC State.
