ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Valley Conference has revealed the Belmont University women's basketball team's 2026-27 conference schedule. Announced by the Valley Friday morning, the Bruins' 20-game MVC slate begins on Tuesday, Dec. 22 against Bradley inside the Curb Event Center.
Belmont has finished first or second in its conference 10 of the last 11 years, including winning a MVC regular season championship in the Bruins' first season in the Valley in 2022-23.
Following Christmas, Belmont will travel to Illinois State on Dec. 29 before hosting University of Illinois Chicago on New Year's Eve. The Bruins will begin 2027 with a trip to Evansville on Jan. 3.
Belmont returns to the Curb Thursday, Jan. 7 and Saturday, Jan. 9 to host Southern Illinois and Indiana State. Playing on Thursdays and Saturdays the majority of their league schedule, the Bruins make their annual trip to Iowa Jan. 14-16, facing Northern Iowa first followed by Drake.
The following two Thursdays, Jan. 21 and Jan. 28, Belmont is at home against Evansville and Valparaiso. On Saturday, Jan. 23, the Bruins make the shorter trek to Southern Illinois and on Saturday, Jan. 30, Belmont visits two-time defending regular season and tournament champion Murray State.
Continuing their lone three-game road trip during MVC play, the Bruins head to Indiana State on Feb. 4 and wrap up the stretch at Bradley on Feb. 7.
A four-game homestand awaits Belmont in the middle of February as the Bruins welcome Drake on Feb. 11, Northern Iowa on Feb. 13, Illinois State on Feb. 18 and Murray State for senior day on Sunday, Feb. 21.
The final week of the regular season, Belmont travels to Valparaiso on Feb. 25 before closing things out in Chicago at UIC on Saturday, Feb. 27. It will mark the second consecutive year the Bruins finish the regular season in the Windy City.
For the first time,
Arch Madness, one of the most recognized conference basketball championship brands in the country, will include the MVC women's tournament. The 10-team MVC Tournament will be held Wednesday-Sunday, March 3-7 at the Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis. Four opening round games will take place on Wednesday, March 3, followed by two second-round games on Friday, March 5. The 2027 Arch Madness semifinals will be held on Saturday, March 6 and the MVC Tournament championship game is set for Sunday, March 7.
Belmont is 23-5 in conference tournament games since 2016, and the Bruins have reached the championship game in eight of their last 11 conference tournaments.
Since the 2012-13 season, Belmont has compiled a remarkable 205-44 (.823) record in conference play. Altogether, including conference tournaments, the Bruins have gone 231-52 (.816) against league opponents across the last 14 seasons.
Last season, Belmont went 16-4 in MVC play and 20-12 overall, finishing second in the final league standings.
The Bruins' MVC slate will come on the heels of one of the most impressive non-conference schedules in the nation. During its non-conference tour, Belmont will see eight teams who reached national postseason play last March, including five 2026 NCAA Tournament teams (Princeton, Tennessee, LSU, Iowa State, Vanderbilt) and 2026 Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) champion Columbia. Nine of the Bruins' 12 non-conference opponents were ranked in the top 100 of last year's NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) rankings, including six who were in the top 50 – LSU (No. 3), Vanderbilt (No. 7), Tennessee (No. 25), Iowa State (No. 33), Princeton (No. 37) and Columbia (No. 45).
Additionally, 11 of Belmont's 12 non-conference opponents had a winning record in 2025-26 and seven reached at least 20 wins.
The Bruins' non-conference schedule also includes a prestigious MTE (multi-team event) in the Bahamas for a second-straight year as Belmont will take part in the 2026 Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship over Thanksgiving weekend. Held at the beautiful Grand Hyatt Baha Mar resort in Nassau, Bahamas, the Bruins will take on Iowa State (Nov. 27) and Marquette (Nov. 29) in the island MTE.
Over the last 10 seasons, Belmont is the winningest team in the state of Tennessee with a 72.1 winning percentage (222-86).
The Bruins have recorded seven national postseason wins over the last six seasons, including two NCAA Tournament round of 32 appearances in 2021 and 2022 and a run to the 2025 WBIT championship game.
Belmont is one of only seven programs in the nation to have won 10 or more conference championships (regular season and tournament combined) over the last 10 seasons – UConn (20), Florida Gulf Coast (16), South Carolina (14), Princeton (12), South Dakota State (12), Belmont (11) and Green Bay (10).
The Bruins are also one of only seven teams in the country to have won 20-plus games for 11-straight seasons. UConn, South Carolina, Baylor, Iowa, NC State and South Dakota State are the others.
