Michael Zito enters his second season with the Belmont University baseball program in 2023 and his first as the Director of Baseball Operations.
In his current role, Zito creates and distributes scouting reports on all opposing team’s pitchers and deploys use of Synergy and TrackMan analytics and video.
Additionally, the Nashville native assists with hotel, food, and transportation accommodations for the team, and helps with recruiting as a Belmont representative at CCSC and college-hosted camps around the country.
Along with his graduate assistant duties with the baseball program, Zito also works as a graduate assistant with Student Athlete Services, monitoring academic progress for men’s and women’s golf and men’s tennis.
Prior to coming to Belmont, Zito played baseball at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. The former team captain was a part of two conference championship teams and in 2019 helped lead the Presidents to a regional and super regional championship.
In 2021, Zito finished third in the country in saves on his way to Second Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region honors, and still ranks second in program history in single-season saves and third all-time in career saves.
Zito graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Washington and Jefferson College in 2021, and is currently pursuing his Master’s in Sports Administration from Belmont.
