Head coach Bart Brooks announced Paige Schumann as the Belmont University women’s basketball program’s newest assistant coach on Monday, May 18, 2026. Schumann, who played at both Eastern Illinois and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, spent two years as a graduate assistant coach for the Bruins.
Arriving in the Music City in the summer of 2024, Schumann has been integral in Belmont’s success over the last two seasons. With Schumann helping out with opponent scouting, practice planning, on-campus visits and player development, the Bruins have won 46 games and made a historic national postseason run by reaching the 2025 Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament (WBIT) championship game.
In addition to her coaching duties, Schumann oversees Belmont's team managers and manages all aspects of gameday setup.
In May of 2026, Schumann attained her Master of Sport Administration degree from Belmont.
A native of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Schumann began her college journey at the Ohio Valley Conference’s Eastern Illinois where she spent her freshman and sophomore seasons. An OVC Academic Medal of Honor recipient and OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll member, Schumann played in 42 games for the Panthers before transferring to NCAA Division III Wisconsin-La Crosse.
While back in her home state, Schumann started all 67 games she played in for the Eagles and averaged over 6.5 points and 3.0 assists per outing while shooting nearly 80 percent at the free-throw line. Her senior year in 2023-24, Schumann averaged 7.5 points and 5.4 assists per game and was named to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) All-Sportsmanship Team. Schumann finished her playing career with nearly 500 points, over 250 assists and over 200 rebounds.
Throughout her high school and collegiate career, Schumann volunteered her time as a basketball coach for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and as a referee for Special Olympics.
