Scott Schmelzer

Scott Schmelzer is a native Hoosier, born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Butler University and graduated in August 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Electronic Media and Political Science.

Schmelzer is set to enter is second season as a Belmont Bruin in 2016-17.

During his time at Butler, Schmelzer served as a student manager of the Butler men's basketball program from 2009-2012 under the tutelage of then head coach Brad Stevens, currently the head coach of the Boston Celtics. Butler earned appearances in the national championship game in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. 

During his senior year at Butler, Schmelzer was hired as an assistant high school girl's basketball coach at International School of Indiana (ISI) nearby Butler's campus. Shortly thereafter, just before his graduation, Schmelzer was hired as the Director of Boy's Basketball and Head Varsity Boy's Coach at ISI where he oversaw the middle school programs and was head coach for the varsity boy's team. After taking over a team that had won a total of 6 games in the previous 2 seasons combined, Schmelzer led them to 18 wins in his only two seasons as head coach. 

Additionally, Schmelzer was the head boy's and girl's tennis coach at ISI among serving in other administrative roles at the school; he also served as Tennis Director of Broadmoor Country Club in Indianapolis, IN from 2013-2015. 

He is currently working on his Masters in Sports Administration from Belmont and is set to graduate in May of 2017.
