Tinna Gallagher

Tinna Gallagher joined the Belmont women's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach leading into fall 2022.

A native of Reykjavík, Iceland, Gallagher embarked on her journey to the States to play Division II soccer at the Auburn University - Montgomery, and has not left since. With numerous coaching experiences under her belt, her new journey to Belmont is just beginning.

In her soccer career at the Auburn University - Montgomery, Gallagher was named to All-Conference Teams and All-Region Teams, the Southern Conference All-Academic team and also received the Army Athletic Achievement Award in 2008. After her eligibility elapsed, Gallagher remained a part of the Warhawks as a Graduate Assistant with the team.

Following her time in Montgomery, Gallagher headed to Boston where she was an assistant coach and an administrative assistant in the athletic department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for two years. She then became the head varsity coach at John Milledge Academy for four years.

In 2012 Gallagher became the assistant coach at Georgia College and State University. In her first year as an assistant coach, she helped improve the Bobcat's record from 5-14 to 10-7. Gallagher stayed with the Bobcats for four seasons before becoming the head women's soccer coach at Oxford College of Emory University. During her time in Oxford, Gallagher's team appeared in two NJCAA DII national tournaments as she coached an All-American player, six All-Region players, and five All-Academic Players.

Gallagher returned to Georgia College and State University as the head coach in 2019. During that time with the Bobcats Gallagher tallied 18 victories and three appearances in the Peach Belt Conference tournament. Six of her players received All-Conference honors and received the Peach Belt Conference Sportsmanship award in 2021. Coach Gallagher posted 29 athletes to the Peach Belt Conference Team of Academic Distiniction in her time at Greorgia College and State University.

Said Gallagher as she embarks on this new opportunity, "I am excited to work with these women to help develop them. I hope to bring what I have learned over the years to the table while also growing professionally."

"I want to thank Coach Henson and the Athletic Department for this oppurtunity, I am excited to be a Bruin!" said Gallagher.

Gallagher will be joined by her husband David and three daughters in Nashville, with other family members living close by in the middle Tennessee area.

"We want to welcome Tinna and her husband, David, to Belmont.  We are excited to add someone with her integrity, respect and experience.  She brings a great deal to the program, not only her playing experience but also her NCAA coaching experience.  She has  a very strong work ethic and a passion to teach and develop players on and off the field," commented Coach Henson.
