Derek Cross begins his first season as Assistant Athletic Trainer within Belmont Sports Medicine.  He previously served the last two years as a graduate assistant for the department.

He serves as the primary contact for Volleyball, as well as Women's Tennis.

Prior to Belmont, The Ohio State University graduate spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons as a student athletic trainer with Ohio State Football winning two Big10 Championships, a Rose Bowl, and a College Football Playoff berth. Cross also spent time with Ohio State Men's Gymnastics, Softball, and served as a student athletic trainer at Dublin Scioto High School in Dublin, Ohio. At the professional level, Cross was previously in Nashville during 2020 as a Summer Athletic Training Intern with the Tennessee Titans.

The Akron, Ohio native earned his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from The Ohio State University in May 2021, is a certified Corrective Exercise Specialist, and is a member of NATA. He received his master's degree in Sport Administration at Belmont in May of 2023.
