NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The Belmont Volleyball team will open Atlantic
Sun conference play with home matches against Kennesaw State and
Mercer this weekend. The Bruins face Kennesaw State on Friday at
6:30 p.m. and meet Mercer at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Belmont enters conference play 6-11 and looking to return to the
top of the conference after finishing fourth in the league last
season. The Bruins were picked to finish third in the Coaches'
Preseason Poll. This weekend's matches are the last in a three
match homestand for Belmont. The Bruins will travle to USC Upstate
and East Tennessee State next weekend.
Belmont leads the all-time series against both opponents,
leading the Kennesaw State series 6-1 and the Mercer series 9-5.
Kennesaw State and Belmont played three times last season, with
each team taking the home match. Belmont won the neutral site
match, beating KSU 3-0 to advance to the semifinals of the Atlantic
Sun Tournament. The Bruins split the series with Mercer, winning at
the Curb Event Center and falling on the road at Mercer.
The next home action for Belmont will be Friday, Oct. 15th, when
they welcome Campbell to the Curb Event Center for a 6:30 p.m.
match.
