NASHVILLE, Tenn.--- The Belmont volleyball team heads down the road to Lipscomb to face the Lady Bisons in the final match of the 2010 regular season. Both teams have clinched spots in the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament, but the match is critical for Belmont in terms of seeding.
Belmont comes into the match riding five match win-streak and fresh off of two road wins in Florida last weekend, which helped the Bruins earn the third spot in the league standings earlier this week. Lipscomb also won two games over the weekend and secured its second consecutive regular season conference championship.
The Lady Bisons will try for their second straight undefeated conference season against Belmont. The Bruins dominated the early part of the series with Lipscomb, but the Lady Bisons have won six of the last eight meetings, including the last four straight. The match is critical for Belmont, as a win would help them lock-up the three-seed in next week's conference tournament, as well as put them back in control of the series against Lipscomb.
To spoil Lipscomb's perfect conference season, Belmont will need their nationally ranked service game. The Bruins ranked fourth in the nation in aces per set and lead the conference in that category. With Belmont and Lipscomb at the top of most conference categories, the match should be an exciting regular season finale as both teams try to claim Nashville bragging rights and get ready for postseason play.
First serve for the match is set for 6:30 p.m. at Lipscomb. Live stats are available at www.belmontbruins.com.
