JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - With wind
gusts reaching 28 mph, four homeruns were blown out of Sessions
Stadium as Belmont lost its conference opener to Jacksonville, 3-8,
on Saturday afternoon.

Belmont
Batting: The Bruins hit two homeruns in a game for the
second time this season as the solo shots produced Belmont's only
two runs. Judah
Akers hit his first career long ball to left field in the
second inning for the first run of the game. Packy Elkins tied
the game at two with a leadoff homerun to right center, his third
of season and second when leading off an inning. Elkins and Akers
both finished 2-for-4. Nate Woods saw his
season-long 12-game hitting streak come to an end after four at
bats.
Jacksonville
pitching: Preseason All-Conference selection Matt Loosen
(1-1) went 7 1/3 innings for his first win of the season, throwing
four strikeouts, totaling 24 after three starts this season. Chris
Kaminski earned his third save of the season after entering the
game in the eighth with the tying run at the plate. Kaminski struck
out two over 1 2/3 innings.
Belmont
pitching: Nate Woods (1-1)
started for the Bruins, going 5 1/3 innings allowing five runs and
striking out three for his first loss of the season. Matt Hamann pitched 2
2/3 innings of relief with five walks and allowing three
runs.
Jacksonville
batting: Adam Brett Walker was responsible for half of the
Dolphins' eight runs, after driving in four with two homeruns; a
solo in the sixth and a three-run shot in the eighth. Jamaal
Hawkins went 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored. Jacksonville
recorded over 10 hits for the third straight game, finishing with
11.
