Final Stats
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Behind a seven run third inning, the Western Kentucky Lady Toppers (22-13-0) defeated the Belmont Bruins (6-29-0) by a score of 11-0.
The Lady Toppers started the scoring in the second inning. A single to right field brought the first run home. A Belmont error and a sacrifice fly brought two more runs in.
Western Kentucky opened the floodgates in the third inning. The Lady Toppers recorded nine hits in the inning to score seven runs to go up by 10 runs going into the fifth inning.
A triple in the fifth inning brought in another run for the Lady Toppers to go up by 11 runs.
Belmont was unable to muster a run in the bottom of the inning, and the game ended with an 11-0 victory for Western Kentucky.
The Lady Toppers out hit the Bruins 13-2 in the game, and the Bruins committed four errors to Western Kentucky's zero.
Belmont immediately turned around to play in the second game of the double header.
