NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- The Belmont volleyball team returns home to
take on Florida Gulf Coast in the final non-conference match of the
season. First serve is set for 2 p.m. in the Curb Event Center.
The Bruins (6-10) will meet the Eagles (2-10) for the sixth
time. FGCU leads the all-time series 1-4. The last two meetings
between the two programs have each gone to five sets. The two teams
were picked to finish second (FGCU) and third (Belmont) in the
Atlantic Sun Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Belmont is coming off a loss at Western Kentucky while FGCU fell
to Florida Atlantic in their last match. Saturday's meeting will be
the fourth in the Curb Event Center, where Belmont won its only
match of the series. The Bruins will face the Eagles in a
conference match in November on the road at Fort Myers.
Saturday begins a three match home stand for Belmont. The Bruins
will host Kennesaw State next Friday, Oct. 1st, and Mercer next
Saturday, Oct. 2nd to open conference play. Belmont will play six
home matches in October before going on the road for the month of
November. First serve for next Friday's match is 6:30 p.m. while
the Saturday match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
