Men's Basketball Completes Pre-Christmas Slate at Austin Peay Wednesday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont men's basketball wraps up its pre-Christmas schedule Wednesday night at Austin Peay.

Belmont dropped a heartbreaking 87-86 decision at Marshall Monday. The Bruins rallied from a 13-point second half deficit to claim an 84-83 lead with 1:26 left. But despite having six players score in double figures and holding the Thundering Herd to four offensive rebounds in the second half, junior Kerron Johnson's layin attempt to win at the buzzer rimmed off.

Belmont head coach Rick Byrd and Austin Peay head coach Dave Loos are the two winningest active head coaches in the state of Tennessee. Together they have a combined 1,053 victories and 48 years of service at their schools.

The game will serve as a homecoming for redshirt junior Adam Barnes, who is a native of Clarksville, Tenn.

This is the 12th meeting between Belmont and Austin Peay in the Bruins' NCAA era. The Bruins and Governors will become league foes next season when Belmont joins the Ohio Valley Conference.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. CT. The live play-by-play of Voice of the Bruins Kevin Ingram can be heard on the Bruin Sports Network and 104.5 The Zone.
