BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Belmont men's tennis lost their season opener to Samford 7-0 in a match played Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Bulldogs won the first point of the match as they captured wins at the number two and three doubles positions. Belmont did win at number one as Rafael Matos and Rodrigo Amaral beat Carl Abalos and Oliver Reynolds 9-7.
In singles, Samford cruised as they swept all six matches to clinch the victory over visiting Belmont 7-0.
Belmont (0-1) hits the courts again next Friday as they play at Chattanooga.
