Women's Tennis Defeats Western Kentucky and Kentucky Wesleyan

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Belmont women's tennis extended their winning streak to three as they picked up two wins on Saturday afternoon in Bowling Green, Kentucky.  In their first match, they beat Western Kentucky 5-2 then followed that up with a 7-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan.

In the Western Kentucky match, the Bruins came out strong winning two doubles matches to pick up the first point of the match.  In singles, BU continued their fine play as they won four of the six singles matches in straight sets to clinch 5-2 victory (Abby Leatherwood at #2, Catherine Holliday at #3, Lindsay Bennett at #4, and Natalia Nunes at #6).

Right after the victory over the homestanding Hilltoppers, Belmont took on Kentucky Wesleyan and the Lady Panthers were no match for the Bruins.  BU won all three double matches and then swept all six singles matches to clinch the 7-0 victory.

Belmont (4-5) will be back in action next Friday at home as they open conference play with Kennesaw State beginning at 1:00pm at Centennial Sportsplex.
